Dublin House / Competition

In the Autumn of 2009, the UCD summer school 'now what?' ran a one day competition in Smithfield to explore the concept of reintroducing Dublin's Georgian urban grain back onto inner city sites which have been subject to failed social housing projects, failed projects of overleveraged developers and neglected brownfield sites.

The west side of Lower Dominick Street, Dublin 1 was selected, currently the site of a Dublin City Council social housing flat complex built in 1970.

Judged by Ali Grehan [DCC], Ciaran MacNamara [DCC], Ryan Kennihan & Denis Byrne. Moniker & GKMP architects won the competition jointly.
